The work involved in starting and running a club is often underestimated. Running clubs, regardless of size, should be viewed like running a business. Your club has a range of functions and requirements which include: handling money; hiring and yes, sometmes firing personnel -- including volunteers; it is required to be in compliance with local, state and federal statutes; it is required to insure that your activities -- practice and play -- can be carried out with the correct equipment, safe fields and appropriately-registered players and coaches; and, among other things, your club is required to be sensitive to the needs of not only the players and coaches, but also the parents.
The staff at Iowa Soccer appreciates and supports the work your club does on behalf of the game. You can count on us to be your club's go-to resource for navigating day-to-day operations and help with any unusual challenges. Below are links to several documents and organizations to help you with your club's start-up and administration. Utilizing these resources will save time and reduce anxiety, while helping to meet the ever-changing challenges of operating a club.
Finally, never hesitate to contact an Iowa Soccer #team member if you have any questions or need further assistance with club operations and/or club development.
