Education...to keep coaches coaching and players playing
Through our mission, programming, coach training and rules, Iowa Soccer strives to help cultivate the best possible playing environment for players and coaches. We recognize that without good coaches, many players quit the sport. Part of what we do is provide training and resources to coaches so they can help create a fun and inclusive experience for players.
Managing Risk...Volunteer Disclosure Form
As a volunteer or paid coach, you are taking on a tremendous responsibility to teach, take care of and care about the young people you work with. Along with that responsibility is the need to educate yourself about ways you can manage the risks associated with coaching youth soccer. Below is a list of resources the Iowa Soccer Risk Management Committee considers invaluable for any coach -- new or experienced, volunteer or paid.

Level 1, 2, 3...say what?!
In the fall of 2010, Iowa Soccer implemented a new classification system of teams and players. The designations select/premier, classic and recreational are no longer being used and have been replaced by Level 1, 2 and 3 respectively.
Small-sided games
One of the most important philosophies we've implemented is mandating small-sided soccer in the younger age groups. We believe playing 3v3 up to 8v8, on smaller fields with smaller goals, is fun and promotes player development.
