Iowa Soccer Association, as the U.S. Soccer state governing body, is responsible for providing coaching education opportunities to coaches at all levels of play across the state. Coach education opportunities are available via the U.S. Soccer Coaching Education Pathway as well as the United Soccer Coaches pathway. Coach Education Pathway
U.S. Soccer launched its newly revised coaching national and state-level coaching education pathways and courses. The courses are designed to positively impact the development of grassroots coaches across the country by making education more accessible and developmentally appropriate for grassroots coaches. Together, with U.S. Soccer, Iowa soccer is committed to empowering coaches with the knowledge, skills, and practices to create a positive, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment for their players.
Coach Licensing Requirement
To ensure that all players have access to a safe and positive experience, Iowa Soccer has established minimum standards for coaches to be eligible to coach. Licensing requirements for the fall of 2018 will be communicated during the spring of 2018. Starting Fall 2018, coaches at all levels, are required to complete the free 20 minute on-line U.S. Soccer Grassroots Introductory Module. This short course is required by Iowa Soccer in order to coach as well as by U.S. Soccer as a prerequisite to attend Grassroots courses.
