DES MOINES, Iowa (May 1, 2014) -- The return of the Fall Kohl's American Cup to Central Iowa has been confirmed. Iowa Soccer will be partnering with the Altoona Youth Soccer Association to host the Level 3 event of the season, October 10-12 at the Spring Creek Sports Complex in Altoona. US Youth Soccer revealed the Altoona location has been awarded the full interactive event, which means multiple inflatable games and lots of music and give-aways.
2014 marks the third year for a second Kohl's event for Iowa Soccer member teams. In 2012 and 2013, West Des Moines Soccer Club led the way in partnering with Iowa Soccer to launch the competition. "West Des Moines Soccer Club stepped up big time," says KAC Director Jenny Wood. "Without their leadership, a second Kohl's American Cup event wouldn't have materialized." The event now shifts east to Altoona.
"Altoona Soccer Club is one of the fastest growing clubs in the area and its growth and leadership led to the realization of a new youth sports complex. At Spring Creek Soccer Complex, we will be able to grow the event and add many exciting aspects to the weekend," said Wood. Among the things Iowa Soccer will be looking to add in 2014 are games under the lights on the turf field and possibly an adult small-sided festival. Stay tuned for programming announcements on the Fall KAC webpage.
The traditional and long-running spring Kohl's American Cup returns to Ames this June 14-15. This is the ninth time around for Ames as host and it, too, has been awarded the full interactive event. Team entry is now open, so head over to the Spring KAC webpage to get your team in on the action!
