Iowa Soccer Welcomes Two New Staff Members

DES MOINES, Iowa (March 24, 2017) – Iowa Soccer Executive Director Harold Kahler is excited to share with the community the addition of two staff members who fulfill new roles in the organization starting April 17.

Heading the Membership Department as Director of Member Services is Candice Fabry, outgoing General Manager of the Iowa Rush Soccer Club.  Collin Hemann, a homegrown talent by way of Menace Academy and Simpson College, steps in as the Member Services Administrator.

“With Candice and Collin filling these new positions, we got a hat trick:  experienced, talented and versatile.  They will have an immediate impact and be able to serve our members at a high level,” said Kahler.  “We’re thrilled to have them on our team and working with members!”

Fabry will be the point person for youth registration and compliance and risk-management, and will lead the vision and development of the Membership Department.  Hemann will handle adult registration and member insurance and provide administrative support to education initiatives and the ODP program.

Fabry, a native of Naperville, Ill., was most recently the General Manager at Iowa Rush where responsibilities ranged from membership, to marketing and communications, to player registration, to financial and risk management, to administrating and running camps, to coaching, and beyond.  She has a Master’s Degree in Sports, Recreation and Tourism and her coaching credentials include a US Soccer B License and US Youth Soccer National Youth License.  Fabry has coached at state and regional ODP levels and competed collegiately at Division I University of Toledo.

Kahler said, “Candice has interfaced with Iowa Soccer as a member in many roles and her insight will be fundamental to our continued development as a member-focused organization.  We’re looking forward to her leadership with our members and her immediate contributions to our team.”

In her eight years with the Rush organization, Fabry was integral in leading fundraising and sponsorship initiatives for scholarships and field/facility enhancements, has executed community service projects aimed at helping youth homelessness and supporting the Miracle Playground in Ankeny, and developed and executed a brand awareness strategy that resulted in 400 additional players joining the club.

Hemann is an Iowa Soccer alum who hails from Des Moines, playing for neighborhood club Soccer South and then select club Des Moines Menace Academy, where he won an Iowa State Cup Championship at U18.  He continued in college competing in the Iowa Conference for the Simpson Storm where he will earn a degree this spring.

“Collin has outstanding credentials and experience and has prepared well for this opportunity,” stated Kahler.  Hemann graduates with a B.A. in Sports Administration and a minor in coaching.  Outside the classroom, he served for nine months as an operations intern with Des Moines Menace PDL and last summer was a stadium and complex operations intern at FC Dallas.  “Collin comes to our team beyond his years and we know he’ll be able to hit the ground running.  Menace internships are the real deal and he is highly-regarded for his work at the organization,” said Kahler.

Menace Director of Operations Adam Small says of Hemann, “We are beyond excited for Collin and Iowa Soccer.  This is an excellent fit and an exciting opportunity for him to step in and make instant contributions.  Collin lives and breathes soccer and brings a positive, caring attitude to every situation.”  As for his playing days with Menace Small added, “Collin was part of a Menace Academy U18 team that surprised a lot of people by winning the Iowa State Cup.  It’s cool that just four years later he’ll be working full time for the organization that made those memorable experiences possible!”

Kahler concluded, “We recognize how fortunate we are to land Candice and Collin and are appreciative of how member clubs played crucial roles in their development.  Beyond that, we’ve added two individuals of integrity and who are just really good people.  For those who don’t already know them, we can’t wait for you to meet them!”
