For the 2018 Spring High School Soccer Season, there were 5 corrections made to the 2016-17 NFHS Soccer Rules Book; rules changes re: visible apparel and headgear for players, communication sets and beeper flags for officials, and procedures governing the Kickoff, Free Kick, and Penalty Kick restarts; and, points-of-emphasis.

Each of these topics is presented and discussed in the following 21 minute video from the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS).

The NFHS Soccer Rules Book governs matches sanctioned by both the IHSAA and the IGHSAU.

The 2018 Online Soccer Rules Meeting presentation is required viewing for all high school soccer officials by the IHSAA and IGHSAU. Subject matter included this year includes: head injury/concussion protocol, margin of victory, tie-breaking procedures, Misconduct rules, Offside definitions, filing Online Game Reports, State Tournament dates and locations, rules changes, editorial changes, and points-of-emphasis for referees for the Spring Season.

IMPORTANT: Referees are required to watch the entire presentation online at the IHSAA website in order to receive credit and be eligible for post-season assignments.

Resources needed by HS Soccer Referees who will be officiating IHSAA/IGHSAU matches for the 2018 Spring Season are located in Box in an NFHS folder. The information there includes:

• NFHS Soccer Rules Changes / Interpretations

• Situations and Rulings

• Points-of-Emphasis

• Overtime Procedures

• IHSAA Officials' Manual
