Play Hard Play Fair with Abby Wambach
YOU GUYS! ABBY IS COMING!
Olympic and US Women's National Team Star Abby Wambach is coming to Iowa Soccer on Sunday, November 9th and your child has the opportunity to play soccer with her! Iowa Soccer is coordinating the event, held at Grand View University in Des Moines, with Abby and it will serve as a fundraiser for Courage League Sports.
Iowa Soccer has chosen Courage League Sports (CLS) as the beneficiary of the fundraising effort. Based in Urbandale, IA, CLS is a recreational adaptive sports facility specifically designed for children not able to go “full speed” due to disability, illness, or emotional challenges. Its programs provide an opportunity to play in sports leagues, participate in group classes or play around during open gym nights at everyone’s own skill level. CLS strives to ensure a positive recreational experience for all children and their families and encourages participants to have fun while exercising outside of a therapy atmosphere.
How to participate, raise funds and interact with Abby
Players must register to raise funds (details below). Each player raising at least $250 will attend lunch with Abby on November 9 and may be accompanied by one parent/guardian. The event also includes any one item autographed, a photo with Abby, a Q&A with Abby and then SOCCER! The top 64 fundraisers will be broken into an appropriate age group to play in a 10 minute game with Abby. She'll compete on your team for five minutes and on your opponent's for five minutes.
The top 10 overall fundraisers sit with Abby at lunch. The top 2 overall fundraisers sit next to Abby! For complete event information, visit www.iowasoccerplayhardplayfair.org.

Interested in donating?
On the www.iowasoccerplayhardplayfair.org website, there is a page that lists currently-registered fundraisers (i.e. youth players) with links to their personal fundraising webpages. You are welcome to select someone who is already raising funds -- maybe your contribution will get them in the Top 10 or secure them a commemorative t-shirt and print of Abby -- or maybe encourage a youth you know to register as a fundraiser and you can make the first contribution toward his/her efforts! For sure your donation will help Courage League Sports!
