Purpose
The Rec Challenge Cup offers recreational soccer players an opportunity to play in a high-quality tournament in a fun atmosphere, where the emphasis is placed on participation, fun and competition.
The Rec Challenge Cup is a guaranteed three-game, round-robin format for 11U-above teams. Semifinal and final matches are held, with members of the first- and second-place teams each receiving awards.
This annual event is the largest recreational youth soccer event in Iowa, with teams descending on Ames every Spring. The Iowa Soccer Association has run a tournament for rec soccer players/teams every year since 1992.

Team & Player Eligibility
This event is for Iowa Soccer member teams and players classified as Recreational. Teams must have been registered with Iowa Soccer by April 1, 2020 and play in a league that has a minimum of four teams. You are not allowed to assemble a "tournament team roster" for this event or use non-Iowa Soccer member players; the Rec Challenge Cup is for the regular-season roster/team. Each player must have a current US Youth Soccer player pass for that team. We do have a "Guest Player Allowance" designed to help coaches secure enough players to enter if not all your families can commit to a tournament weekend. Review allowance details on the Guest Player Allowance page.
