After an exciting season of play, the stage is now set for the Spring Championship Weekend of Iowa Presidents Cup. The final round of the competition will take place this Saturday and Sunday at Spring Creek Soccer Complex in Altoona, with winners being decided in the 13U and 14U age groups.

“Iowa Soccer is excited to host the top teams in the state as they compete for a place in Regional Competitions,” said Dan Cataldi, Chief Executive Officer of the Iowa Soccer Association. “The 13U and 14U age groups are particularly fun as they generate a lot of excitement since they are only in their first or second year of competing at this level. The players, coaches and supporters will bring their passion to Altoona as they hope to earn a trip to St. Louis, creating a great environment over the weekend!”

Each spring, Iowa Soccer Association hosts its Presidents Cup for 13U and 14U teams in both the boys and girls divisions. Due to the spring high school season in Iowa, 15U to 19U age groups compete in the Fall Presidents Cup. Iowa Presidents Cup champions become eligible for regional play at the US Youth Soccer (USYS) Midwest Regional Presidents Cup this summer in St. Louis, with regional winners then moving onto the USYS National Presidents Cup in Tampa, Florida.

“Our state championship events always bring an extra level of excitement and emotion, as teams leave it all on the field for a chance to win and advance,” said Craig Winger, Chief Member Services Officer at Iowa Soccer Association. “The Iowa Presidents Cup is not just about claiming a title, it is about earning the opportunity to represent our state with pride at the USYS Midwest Regional Presidents Cup as part of TEAMIOWA.”

Heading into the weekend, Iowa Soccer Association would like to thank Wilson Trophy Company, Fine Designs, The Athletic Training Room, Kick It Forward, PRIME, Spond, FairWhistle, Kwik Star, SCORE, NCSA College Recruiting, Veo, Soccer Parenting Association, Spring Creek Soccer Complex, Spring Creek Football Club and the Iowa Referee Committee for their support of the Iowa Presidents Cup.

The USYS Presidents Cup provides a progressive and competitive environment to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community.
